Was researching something for my Men’s book and got distracted by this article and video. Look at this ingredient list for “dog food”! Compared to the diet of a wild dog, like a wolf or a fox, this is like a big, artificial, nasty chemical slop.
The wolf eats: Meat, blood, eggs, sometimes worms and bugs, sometimes berries or grass. I remember when I took my German Shepard off of commercial dog food and started feeding him simple meals of meat and rice. His intelligence and overall well-being skyrocketed. He was almost too much to handle. There’s a whole other thing here too – the wolf or fox has to find or hunt it’s food. Our pets just show up to their bowl and chow down. This also surely has a “milding” effect.
But all of this is something to think about, men. What do we shovel into our pie holes? And how does it effect our power and intelligence? How do all of our manufactured ingredients conspire to keep us MILD in our life? Imagine what would happen if we ate a chemical-free, processed-food-free diet, and drank a ton more water. Imagine if we only at the same sorts of ingredients as our ancestors.(Maybe with a little homemade BBQ sauce)
I’m not talking getting into a whole crazy diet-voodoo thing. I am just talking about getting down to basics. We are what we eat. If we eat fake shit all the time, I believe it makes us more fake. If we never stop to really consider what we’re eating, I believe we are asking for ALL KINDS of trouble. More simply than that – we eat every day. That means that if we make our activity of eating into a conscious practice, it brings that much more consciousness into our life. It can only help us. Let’s try it and see what happens.
