It’s Friday – most dads get a break from work on the weekend, which means it’s family time! Here are a few potent ways to take care of yourself while you take care of your lil’ ones.
1. At least one no-bullshit conversation with another dad. It’s never easy being a father and sometimes it’s downright hard and can be isolating. Get it out – get support. Even a 5 minute check in will do.
2. Some conscious alone time. Spacing out with the computer or TV doesn’t count. Ride your bike, go for a drive, take a long walk, go to the sauna. Get some time when it’s just you and you.
3. Your favorite thing. Choose at least one of your favorite simple pleasures in life and enjoy the hell out of it. Eat your favorite food, listen to your favorite band, whatever. But make sure you have at least one thing that you enjoy this weekend that’s not a compromise.
A little bit of investment in yourself will help you avoid the grumpys, show up 100%, and be the best dad your best kids deserve.
