Locker Rooms, Donald Trump, and the need for a new American Man

Locker Rooms, Donald Trump, and the need for a new American Man

Do we even need to talk about Trump as an unfit, degenerate, clown of a presidential candidate? Only if we’re interested in what’s happened to the herd of the American populous in the past few decades. God help us if he’s elected. I shudder to think… but no matter what happens in the election, I am still deeply troubled by what his popularity says about the American psyche. The most recent, blatant barrage of nonsense related, but not limited to Trump’s “locker room talk” about grabbing pussies and forcing himself on women was no surprise. What is surprising is the reaction. Of course, people who hate Trump just hate him more. But the people who love him are still lining up to excuse, defend, or even applaud him. What’s going on? We can’t just say “they’re crazy”, or “they’re deplorable”, or even “they’re brainwashed”. If you ask me I say,… Read More

Are you a Warrior or a Worrier (Or a Whiner?)

I’m not sure if I’m even allowed to do this – but I want to share a section from my men’s book BACKBONE. It’s a book for men, but this section is for everyone, in fact, this section will be the basis for what I’m teaching this weekend at Kripalu at my Awakened Living Weekend. So, without further ado… here is the first bit of my chapter on “The Warrior” archetype. THE WARRIOR Once we have our King in place, once we have a good sense of our purpose in life, once we have our mission, we need some serious masculine power to make it all happen. We need balls to support our backbone. That’s the role of our inner Warrior. The Warrior is the innate power every man has inside to get shit done, move forward, and stand up to challenges. The Warrior is the part of us that… Read More

Why Your Yoga Class (alone) Won’t Work for Your Husband (and what will)

Why Your Yoga Class (alone) Won’t Work for Your Husband (and what will)

Over the many years I’ve been teaching meditation, yoga, self-empowerment, transformation and so on, I have run into the same thing over and over again: women who are on a transformational path and who want their male partners to be on a transformational path too. “I wish he would come to your weekend retreat with me but…” Many women in the midst of an “inner life makeover” even feel like their progress is hindered by the un-interested men in their life. The ladies are lightening up, they are learning all about themselves, they are unleashing their inner power, but their hubby or boyfriend is skeptical or doesn’t relate, or is maybe even resentful of his lady’s new enlighted world. There are some really good reasons why this happens. Seeing this over the years has been the impetus for me to write my Men’s Book, start Wildman University, and do the… Read More

Three Weekend Essentials for Good Dads

Three Weekend Essentials for Good Dads

It’s Friday – most dads get a break from work on the weekend, which means it’s family time! Here are a few potent ways to take care of yourself while you take care of your lil’ ones. 1. At least one no-bullshit conversation with another dad. It’s never easy being a father and sometimes it’s downright hard and can be isolating. Get it out – get support. Even a 5 minute check in will do. 2. Some conscious alone time. Spacing out with the computer or TV doesn’t count. Ride your bike, go for a drive, take a long walk, go to the sauna. Get some time when it’s just you and you. 3. Your favorite thing. Choose at least one of your favorite simple pleasures in life and enjoy the hell out of it. Eat your favorite food, listen to your favorite band, whatever. But make sure you have… Read More
